Getting involved. CNES/CSG has come a long way since its foundation in the 1960s, and so has French Guiana. They have gone down many roads together and opened up many new paths.
CNES/CSG works alongside its partners in French Guiana, building, investing, creating jobs, evaluating, advising, maintaining, renovating, communicating, financing and participating. With contributions from several departments and in particular the Mission Guyane (Guiana Mission), set up in 2000, the focus of CNES/CSG involvement has become clearer, including assistance with economic development, partnerships with local authorities, applications which provide services for the population, grants and resources made freely available for local clubs and associations, educational initiatives concerning science and Space, as well as the preservation and renovation of heritage sites.
All these activities are carefully adapted to conditions in French Guiana and produce multiple benefits. With all parties seeking a win-win relationship, the objective seems obvious: CSG fully involved in French Guiana which in turn claims Space itself!
