This satellite will be dedicated to the direct television program for North Africa, the Middle East and in the Gulf zone.

RASCOM-QAF 1R is a telecommunication service satellite built from a platform TAS Spacebus 4000 B3 stabilized 3 axes for RascomStar-QAF.

It will cover the rural African zones and its major objectives will be to allow the reduction of the digital divide and the isolation of the African countries.
