Description of the 50th Ariane 5 payload

  

 

ASTRA 3B is a telecommunication satellite built by EADS ASTRIUM for  Luxemburg operator SES ASTRA. This Ku and Ka-band spacecraft is designed for the distribution of both direct-to-home (DTH) broadcast services and two-way broadband services across Europe.

Astra 3B will operate 60 transponders in Ku-band and 4 in Ka-band. It will have a double deployable antenna system on each side. The satellite power is 12 kW.

 
 

COMSATBw-2 is a military applications communication satellite built by THALES ALENIA SPACE under EADS ASTRIUM GmbH contract for the German army.
