The Galliot station

Built on the southern peak of the Montagne des Pères in Kourou, nearly 20 km from the launch complexes, the Galliot site is in direct view of the launcher.  This site is used for launches towards the north, as well as the east.  Historically, the Montagne des Pères earned its name from the Jesuits, who worked to develop the Kourou area from the 17th century onwards.
