Informing the public
An annual safety campaign
Each year, the public is informed of the risks related to Space centre activities and of the safety measures taken to protect life, property and the environment by means of :
- a brochure which is published,
- lectures and visits for health professionals and teachers.
The information brochure is distributed in the letter boxes of households in Kourou and Sinnamary. It describes the safety measures implemented during launches and contains directions in case of an accident in 4 languages (French, Brazilian, Taki-taki and English).

Presenting the activities
The activities regarding risk management and protection of the environment are also presented to various audiences (journalists, collèges and lycées, general public, scientists, and so on) during visits or conferences at the Guiana Space Centre.
Presenting fo example in 2009 :
- the profession of the environmental engineer in the 'Radio Guyane' broadcast 'Paroles de scientifiques'
- environmental activities at the Guiana Space Centre for the general public, in particular for students and pupils, at the 'Mercredis de l'Espace' and 'Fête de la science'
An exhibition on ‘CNES/CSG and the environment’
How does CNES/CSG monitor its environment? How does a launch affect the environment?
An exhibition, consisting of 26 teaching panels as part of the permanent exhibition at the Space Museum answer a lot of questions about the CSG and the environment.

information on the Guiana Space Centre and its environment it made available on the CNES-CSG website site and updated regularly.
