CNES and tourism
CNES/CSG helps develop tourism in French Guiana at different levels and by various means, particularly by participating in the Region’s advertising campaign, offering technical and financial assistance for tourism projects, participating in the administration of the French Guiana Tourism Committee and promoting the heritage of the Iles du Salut.
Industrial and scientific tourism
The Guiana Space Centre is one of the most visited sites in French Guiana.
- CNES/CSG arranges free visits on behalf of the commercial and other bodies working at the Centre. The visits last about three hours: transport and guides and the audiovisual resources of the Jupiter Centre are made available.
- CNES/CSG also organises the reception of guests wishing to watch a launch. Whether resident in or visiting French Guiana, they may watch from one of three sites (Agami, Carapa and Jupiter). There is no fee for the visits.
The Press Office also frequently receives visiting journalists from various countries and the full range of media which come for specific projects or popular programmes such as C'est pas sorcier, Thalassa, Va Savoir or L'instit for French television and National Geographic for international distribution.
Tourism and advertising
CNES actively supports the Guiana Tourism Committee (CTG) :
- as a participating member of the Board and steering committee and on the CTG’s Advertising Campaign Committee,
- by participating in trade fairs in Guiana: the tourism and leisure fair and, further afield, at the Paris tourist exhibition.
- financial assistance for the promotion of Guiana as a tourist destination
