Welcome to the Space Museum

The Space Museum has been popular with schools and the general public since its creation in 1996, as an indispensable tool for encouraging interest in the sciences, not just the Space sciences but scientific applications in general especially with relevance to the Guianese environment. The museum covers 1,200 m2 on two floors, with a mezzanine looking down on some superb models. On the first floor 8 modules tell the story of humans in Space, the Moon landings and Europe’s Space programmes. Temporary exhibitions are frequently displayed on the ground floor. There is also an Internet Corner where visitors can surf on the World Wide Web, the biggest network in the world.

Apart from the Space Centre itself, visitors can travel through time via seven theme modules, namely :

  • the universe,
  • Space exploration: from dream to reality,
  • Europe’s launch vehicles,
  • manned flight,
  • satellites: their technology,
  • application and scientific payloads,
  • the future.

Visitors can purchase souvenirs before or after their visit from the Gift Shop near the entrance to the Museum.
