The Solange Patient School in Kourou : a highly successful exhibition !

Standard five (fifth grade for America) students at the Solange Patient School in Kourou are presenting their view of space in an exhibition "Discover Ariane and its European mission", created as part of a school project.

The school project, which was initiated at the end of 2002 by their teacher Mr. Menant, with the title "Let us be citizens and participants in the European space city", was a great success with the students.

It included reading, mathematics and geography related to space research; the students integrated what they had learned in a micro-rockets workshop held at the Fête de la Science and then by visiting installations at the Guiana Space Centre.

Stimulated by these discoveries, they then prepared the exhibition, which consists of 3 information panels, satellite models and a model of the Ariane 5 launch pad as well as micro-rockets.

The managers of the Museum and the Public Relations department at CNES/CSG, impressed by the quality of the work done by the students and their teacher, decided to host the exhibition, which was inaugurated on Friday 21 March 2003 at the Space Museum, and can be visited free of charge at the Leisure space throughout the month of April.
