The document and archive centre
Documents and Archives are stored in the Atlas Building at the CSG Technical Centre.
The Archive Centre is open both to Space Centre personnel and to the personnel of other companies working onsite. The general public can only access the Archives by special request and only such documents which are legally accessible in terms of the French Law on public archives dated 3 January 1979. The archive personnel collect all documents produced or received by the different departments of CNES/CSG. They pay as much attention to the technical documents recording Space activity as to personal, sociological and infrastructural records. They assemble drawings, photographs, posters and more. The Archive is the collective memory of the CSG since its inception. This heritage is enhanced by oral testimony from the earliest personnel which has been recorded and transcribed. The story of the Space Centre is thus told by those who have lived through its various changes.
Open from Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm and Friday from 8am to 12 noon.
