Website of the Guiana Space Centre

The website of the Guiana Space Centre has been redesigned: information has been reorganised with presentation by themes, online access to dossiers, a new editorial policy and graphic layout. A series of innovations which we hope will make navigation simpler and more user-friendly so that anyone can visit the CSG by simply typing www.cnes-csg.fr

With 200 pages and 300 photos online, the site contains everything you need to know about CSG, Europe’s Spaceport, whether that means information about launches, the history of the Space base and the way it functions, the links between the Space industry and French Guiana or the new Soyuz and Vega projects.

Information has been reorganised into six sections to make it easier to surf around it, whether for the general public, journalists, teachers or researchers:

 - Europe’s Spaceport: the history, resources and installations of the base, the organisations present at CSG and the missions of CNES,
- Latest Base News: the most recent news of launch campaigns, the satellites to be placed in orbited, current work programmes and events,
- Current Campaigns: news about how campaigns are progressing, concerning the base, satellites and launchers,

 - Launchers: the different versions of Ariane 5, the different missions, etc.

- Specific Files: highlighting particular subjects such as range safety, the Jupiter Control Centre, the relationship between CSG and research in French Guiana , how the military protects CSG, satellite preparation, etc.

- and lastly Themes, such as the environment, Space applications for Guiana (satellite remote sensing and telemedecine) and the links between the Space industry and French Guiana, especially through the activities promoted by CNES in Guiana (Mission Guyane).

And of course, a section of the site for younger visitors, with plenty of Space vocabulary, just the way young surfers like it: Flash animations to discover the Space Centre, a micro-rocket workshop, a quiz, photo reporting, etc.

The English version is expected to be online in the first quarter of 2006.
