CNES scholarships

Higher education scholarships granted by CNES/CSG

CNES has been awarding scholarships since 1984, with the aim of providing financial assistance to students from French Guiana to allow them to continue their studies successfully in continental France, whether in CNES’s own field of Space research or in fields that will contribute to the development of French Guiana.

Since 1984, 38 students have benefited from CNES/CSG scholarships. 20 have already completed their courses and have become engineers, eight of whom now work in Guiana, six of these at the Space Centre. The others have chosen first to acquire professional experience in continental France. Nine are currently studying, either preparing for or going through Engineering studies. Nine scholarships have been suspended or withdrawn.

Candidates must hold a French honours Baccalauréat in science subjects and have either won a place at a university or Grande Ecole offering Engineering studies or be registered for a course preparing entry to a Grande Ecole, or hold a DUT or BTS and have won a place in an institution entitled to award Engineering degrees, where places are reserved for candidates who have qualified for entry through an examination or on the grounds of previously awarded degrees.
