Europeanisation and mobility policy
The Europeanisation policy of the CNES/CSG with respect to personnel can be seen in :
- the practice of encouraging mobility between organisations through cooperation agreements signed with other Space agencies and manufacturing partners ;
- placements offered to volunteers under the French scheme for civilian volunteers for technical assistance (VCAT), who are citizens of EU member states or of countries which have signed the Agreement for the European Economic Area (EEA) ;
- study placements offered to European students.
CNES/CSG aims to widen the range of technical skills available to the European Space community through a policy of seconding employees :
- coming from European aerospace technical centres or the European aerospace industry in the broadest sense, to give them experience in the field of launch operations and support which they can then take back and contribute to their original employer ;
- having considerable experience in related fields of technology (IT, quality etc.) that they can contribute to the entire Space centre while at the CSG.
Personnel chosen are granted the status of ‘secondment to CNES/CSG’. They thus become CNES operatives, on secondment from their employers, with an initial three-year contract, renewable each year for a maximum of six years. The original employer undertakes to reinstate the employee at the end of the secondment period.
The most common specialisations (among engineers and executives) sought by CNES/CSG are in the following fields :
- IT (telematics, networks, software and systems) * ELECTRONICS (signal processing, microwaves, micro-electronics etc.)
- AUTOMATION
- TELECOMMUNICATIONS (radio-communications, navigation, tracking and location, antennas etc.)
- SPACE MATHEMATICS/SPACECRAFT DYNAMICS
- THERMAL DYNAMICS (fluid dynamics, energy, structures, thermal engineering, drag, air-conditioning and controlled environment specialisations etc.)
- PROPULSION - PYROTECHNICS
- PHYSICS (optics, materials, solid physics, flight dynamics etc.)
- CHEMISTRY
- ENVIRONMENT
- CIVIL ENGINEERING
- QUALITY ASSURANCE
- MANAGEMENT (finance, accountancy, personnel management, management control).
